Many trails run through Marmore Falls Natural Park. Among the highest in Europe — 165 meters of total altitude difference divided into 3 falls — the famous waterfall located near Terni, in Umbria, owes its name to the rocks on which it flows, with appearance similar to marble due to the carbonate salts covering them.
Built by the Romans and modified several times over the centuries, this grandiose artificial waterfall is formed by the Velino river, which flows into the Nera.
Access to the park is possible both from below (lower viewpoint) and from above (upper viewpoint), and the distance between the two viewpoints can be covered through 6 different trails.
The point we reached during our excursion is called “Tre salti” (Three Falls), a favourite destination for rafting fans.
