Winner of the first edition of “Reda x Sustainable Style”, the contest set up by Reda within Pitti Uomo 2020, the American designer Spencer Phipps has created a 100% sustainable mini capsule collection for Rewoolution.
The technological innovation of Rewoolution fabrics – breathable, biodegradable and highly performing – meets the distinctive style of the American designer.
The result? 5 garments that combine a passion for the mountains and Seventies style.
The inspiration comes from Bob Fosse’s famous film “All That Jazz” and can be seen in sports leggings, rugby jerseys, a turtleneck and a scooped singlet by Phipps International X Rewoolution, produced with our finest New Zealand merino wool.
Phipps International X Rewoolution is part of the Spencer Phipps Fall-Winter 2021/22 collection entitled Endurance.
The meaning is double: on the one hand there is the determination of human beings to overcome adversity and reach the most remote and hostile places, showcased in the short film shot on the Icelandic glacier Skaftafellsjökull and imagined as the trailer for an ecological thriller of which Spencer Phipps himself is the protagonist;
On the other hand there is the struggle of the polar ice caps which continue to melt due to the inexorable rise in the earth’s temperature. It is precisely the awareness of the climate crisis that leads the designer to an ecological choice in the materials of the collection, including our natural and biodegradable merino wool fibers, and to establish a partnership with the NGO Oceanic Global, committed to safeguarding the oceans.
